Cifas is the UK’s leading fraud prevention service, managing the largest database of instances of fraudulent conduct in the country. Our members are organisations from all sectors, sharing their data across those sectors to reduce instances of fraud and financial crime. Operating as a not-for-profit means our teams put all their efforts into our mission of fighting fraud, rather than creating a financial return for shareholders.
Fraud presents a serious and significant threat to the UK and our role in protecting businesses, the public and the economy from fraud is now more important than ever before. As a result, we have ambitious plans to innovate and create new services and products that will significantly improve the way that we and our members tackle fraud.
Our employees play a crucial part in ensuring we remain the UK's leading fraud prevention service, whilst also ensuring our members remain at the heart of everything we do.
The role:
We are looking for an interim Operational Change Analyst to join Cifas on a maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an analytical and proactive professional to use data-driven insight to support better member and consumer engagement, inform decision-making, and drive operational improvement across the organisation.
In this role, you will analyse complex data, identify opportunities to improve data quality, systems and processes, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations that support business performance. You will also play a key role in delivering change initiatives and projects, working collaboratively with stakeholders to implement sustainable improvements and translate insight into action.
If you enjoy solving business challenges through data, influencing decision-making and supporting meaningful organisational change, this is an excellent opportunity to make a visible impact.
Responsibilities & accountabilities:
Working alongside industry specialists, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading the development of operational reporting, dashboards and KPIs, delivering high-quality insight to support business decision-making.
- Analysing data across multiple systems, identifying trends, anomalies and changes in activity, and communicating meaningful findings to a range of stakeholders.
- Supporting operational teams by resolving member and consumer data queries and delivering clear, data-driven recommendations and solutions.
- Driving continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance data quality, systems and processes, taking ownership of related initiatives and improvements.
- Acting as a Business Analyst for operational change activities, including process governance, process mapping, business, systems and data analysis.
- Collaborating across Cifas to provide subject matter expertise on projects and change initiatives, promote a consistent approach to reporting, and represent the organisation at external meetings and industry events.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
