Role Profile

Reporting to the Business Unit Leader, the account manager serves as the key liaison between the customer and the internal manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for managing strategic customer accounts, ensuring production schedules align with customer requirements, and driving operational excellence to meet service, quality, and delivery targets. The ideal candidate combines strong relationship-building skills with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and operational workflows.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Promote and participate in a proactive, positive Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) culture across the site.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers through regular, professional engagement.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the business and assigned customer accounts, ensuring clear communication and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Estimating teams to ensure quotations are accurate, compliant, and delivered to customers in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with functional and operational leaders to resolve contractual issues that could impact the business's ability to meet its objectives.
  • Work closely with operations teams to manage and mitigate risks associated with late deliveries or potential contractual liabilities.
  • Monitor account performance and health, preparing and presenting regular KPI reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit cost recovery claims (e.g., tooling charges, compensation claims) to ensure timely customer payments.
  • Share responsibility with the Operations Leader for customer liaison, ensuring a consistent, high-profile, and professional interface with clients.
  • Undertake additional duties as required, in line with the role and individual capabilities.

Person Specification

  • Ability to build relationships with ease – both internally and externally.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to hit key milestones.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and within a team environment, with specific experience of working across functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate in an effective manner to different levels within the organisation.
  • Previous aviation / aerospace manufacturing experience and / or technical experience or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of operating at a strategic level.
  • Customer orientated.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong presentation skills.
