Location: HYBRID - 3x days per week Site based in Bridgwater AND 2x days remote working
Status: CONTRACT - INSIDE IR35
Duration: Currently approved until 31dec26 (renewable)
Reports to: Pre-Operations Surveillance Programmes Lead

Morson Edge are working on behalf of a major client in the Energy Sector who have a requirement for an Operational Development Engineer to join their periodic testing team on a contract basis. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience of working on a Nuclear New Build construction Project. Based in Somerset, this role is offered with a hybrid working schedule.

Broad Overview

The Operational Development Engineer will comprise part of the Pre-Operations Surveillance Team who are involved with the delivery of operational documentation and strategy associated with the Periodic Testing Programme.

The successful individual will be required to work with the team producing the periodic testing operations instructions (PTOI's), as well as assist in the shaping and development of the processes required to deliver the Periodic Testing programme in the operational power station. This includes analysis of technical documentation from the Designer, such as technical drawings, specifications, and testing instructions.

The role also will involve liaising with a wide range of stakeholders from across the wider organisation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Demonstrating a data driven approach - you need to be good with spreadsheets! The team currently use the Endevor product suite - Asset Suite 9 (AS9)
  • Conducting technical analysis of plant components and equipment.
  • Conducting analysis of technical documentation.
  • Assisting in the development of Surveillance Programme requirements.
  • Conducting scheduling activities for the output of the Periodic Testing Surveillance programme.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Typically, you will hold an HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, C&I).
  • You should have experience of (any) mechanical/electrical/C&I plant systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Experience of document production
  • Be able to develop and follow procedures.
  • Be able to develop work plans and deliver them safely and efficiently.
  • Have some experience of working in a project environment.
