A Snapshot of Your Day

You will be a part of the Operations & Maintenance team at Hunterston HVDC Converter Station, which is an HVDC Interconnector capable of transferring 2250MW of power between Scotland and North Wales.

You will provide customer support through planned and reactive maintenance activities on customer’s assets as per our contractual requirements. Planning and carrying work out efficiently and safely and that all records are kept up to date. Adhering to SHEQ and Siemens Energy processes and procedures continuously.

This is a challenging position and would suit applicants with a solid electrical engineering background, who are prepared to work in a flexible working environment.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Ensure compliance with Work Specifications, Local Management Instructions, statutory Requirements, and Health & Safety policies.
  • Conduct safety monitoring of Siemens Energy and contractor staff as needed.
  • Plan and implement maintenance routines for all plant and equipment within the contract scope.
  • Develop processes to enhance service quality for customers and ensure a safe working environment through vital documentation.
  • Plan daily work, anticipate problems, and maintain high standards of quality and time.
  • Investigate and resolve faults, prepare reports, and ensure all maintenance documentation is completed in the Maintenance Management System.

What You Bring

  • Preferably possess HNC/HND qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with experience in maintenance environments, industrial sites, or electrical substations.
  • Have a good understanding of electrical systems and practical experience with electrical and mechanical installations.
  • Capable of working independently and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in IT literacy, including MS Office and MS Project.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and Risk Management processes.

Rewards/Benefits

  • 37 hour working week. Mon – Thur 08:00 – 16:30, Fri 08:00 – 13:00
  • After an appropriate period of training and qualifications you will also provide emergency call out response as part of the maintenance team (part of a rotating Standby Rota for 1 site with substantial financial benefits, 1 week in 4 format)
  • Excellent benefits including : standby payments, pension scheme (up to 10%), yearly bonus, authorisation payments, share matching scheme, optional private medical/dental care etc.
  • 26 days annual leave, plus bank holidays

  • Site based at Hunterston HVDC Converter Station, flexibility to occasionally attend other HVDC/Substations throughout the UK to assist with planned maintenance activities.
