Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Operational Manager to join our Children's Community Health Services leadership team in Harrow.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of services supporting children, young people and families. Working closely with clinical, professional and senior leaders, you will be responsible for ensuring services are safe, effective, responsive and sustainable, while supporting delivery of key performance standards and service improvement priorities.
The post holder will lead operational management processes across the service, including workforce, performance, quality, finance, governance and service development. You will play a key role in supporting multidisciplinary teams to improve access, reduce waiting times, achieve service objectives and deliver excellent experiences for children, young people and families.
This role requires a positive and collaborative leader who can build strong relationships with staff, commissioners, local authority partners, schools and other stakeholders to help shape and improve services for the future.
Main duties of the job
- Provide day-to-day operational leadership across children's community health services.
- Lead and support administrative and operational teams to deliver high quality, efficient services.
- Monitor performance, activity, waiting times and service utilisation, ensuring delivery against local and national standards.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, staff development and wellbeing initiatives.
- Lead on operational aspects of service improvement, transformation and redesign programmes.
- Work in partnership with clinical and professional leaders to identify and resolve operational challenges.
- Contribute to budget management, business planning and resource allocation.
- Ensure robust governance arrangements are in place, including management of risks, incidents, complaints and quality improvement activity.
- Build effective relationships with colleagues across health, education, social care and voluntary sector organisations.
- Support the development of innovative approaches to improve access, patient experience and outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The post holder will provide operational management and leadership across Children's Community Health Services, ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with Trust objectives.
The post holder will be responsible for performance management, workforce planning, service delivery, governance, quality improvement, financial oversight and operational business planning. Working closely with clinical, professional and administrative teams, they will support delivery of waiting time standards, service productivity and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role will involve analysing service performance data, identifying risks and opportunities, implementing solutions and supporting transformation programmes to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.

The post holder will foster strong multidisciplinary and multi-agency relationships, working collaboratively with NHS colleagues, local authorities, schools, commissioners and wider partners. They will promote a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, staff wellbeing and high-quality patient care.
The Operational Lead will also contribute to strategic planning, service redesign and development of future models of care, ensuring services remain responsive to the needs of local populations and commissioners.

- Degree, or equivalent level of study or professional qualification

Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven management experience of administrative services within the NHS
- Experience of managing a budget, project management, working within Community Health Services, business and operational planning, change management, working in a multi-disciplinary team /multi-agency working, Managing staff, development, appraisals and recruitment, audit and quality assurance
- Evidence of ability to gain buy-in from and work in partnership effectively with clinicians and administration staff
- Evidence of recent professional development.
- Working with community information systems (SystmOne)

- Experience of working with children's services

- Demonstration of a strong understanding of multi-disciplinary working and multi-agency working
- Problem solving skills including the ability to analyse service information and staffing issues and provide effective solutions

- IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and S1
- Excellent communication, leadership, mentoring and presentation skills.
