Scope of Services
We require the services of an Operations Readiness Consultant (Outside of IR35) to provide independent contract services to support the multi-discipline delivery of diverse energy projects (typically at conceptual / pre-FEED project stages) to ensure facilities are designed and constructed in such a way as to improve Operability, Reliability and Maintainability (ORM) during operations.
The scope of services requires providing broad technical inputs and project engineering on a range of energy projects, from traditional upstream oil and gas to emerging energy transition developments, and shall include:
- Provide guidance to project execution team on Operations Readiness and Assurance processes and related issues throughout all phases of the project. This includes defining readiness criteria, quality gates and operational acceptance standards
- Develop operability, reliability, maintainability and asset management strategies across various project phases
- Establish preventative maintenance and inspection routines for onshore and offshore assets.
- Prepare OPEX estimates and budgets for operations phase.
- Provide assurance for operations to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Lead operations readiness reviews and operational acceptance activities
- Ensure all tasks and deliverables meet operational readiness requirements before transitioning to stable operations
- Manage threat and anomaly registers and risk registers for operations.
- Support Commissioning and Startup teams for the development of pre-commissioning and commissioning readiness plans and procedures.

Genesis globally is managed within core services lines (Early Advisory Solutions, Development Solutions and Asset Lifecycle Solutions) and key markets (Low Carbon, CO2 Management & Renewables and Upstream & Downstream Oil & Gas). The Genesis UK Operating Centre (with offices in Aberdeen and London) is organised into 8 core delivery teams. In this role you would join the Operations Readiness & Assurance Delivery Team. This team, in supporting Genesis global delivery of advisory services, currently comprises circa 50+; engineers, project engineers and study managers, managed in six core delivery groups comprising; Project Engineering / Piping & Layouts, Mechanical and Construction / Electrical / Control, Instrumentation & Telecommunications / Structural, Civil and Marine / Decommissioning.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Degree Qualified in relevant engineering subject (MEng or BEng (Hons)/ MSc or BSc or relevant engineering/science degree qualification).
- Relevant professional accreditation or membership
Experience
- Extensive experience within major capital projects, industrial facilities, energy infrastructure, or process industries.
- Demonstrable experience leading and delivering Operations Readiness and Assurance (ORA) programmes through project execution, commissioning, start-up, and handover phases.
- Previous experience working within an owner/operator organisation is highly desirable.
- Proven experience operating within multidisciplinary project environments and coordinating interfaces across engineering, project delivery, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and HSE functions.
- Experience managing ORA scopes across multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders.
- Experience supporting project bids, proposals, and business development activities.

Technical Competencies
The candidate shall demonstrate the ability to:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, project teams, operations personnel, contractors, and third-party stakeholders.
- Review and assess engineering documentation, drawings, operational philosophies, maintenance strategies, commissioning documentation, and associated project deliverables to support operational preparedness.
- Facilitate and contribute to operability, maintainability, risk, and readiness reviews, including HAZID, HAZOP, ENVID, and Operational Readiness assessments.
- Provide technical advice and assurance relating to operational readiness, operational acceptance, commissioning, start-up, handover, and early-life support activities.
- Develop and review operational readiness plans, readiness criteria, assurance processes, risk registers, and associated performance metrics.
- Support the preparation of cost estimates, schedules, resource plans, and work scopes associated with ORA delivery.
- Identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans to support safe and reliable operation from Day One.
- Understanding of relevant regulatory, legislative, and compliance requirements applicable to major industrial projects.

- Flexibility for ad-hoc travel both within UK and abroad.
