Operational Resilience Manager for a 12 months Secondment

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Operational Resilience Manager for a 12 months Secondment.

You’ll support the GTS UK Senior Operational Resilience Manager in meeting objectives and adhering to requirements for both Business Service Ownership and Operational Resilience across identified services. This may also involve supporting activities to fulfil Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements.

The Business Service Owner (BSO) are accountable for overseeing and managing each of HSBC’s most important business services end-to-end. This includes the assessment of risks, control effectiveness, vulnerabilities and resilience of that service. Key objectives of Business Service Owners (BSO) are ownership of the end-to-end (E2E) delivery of a service, including conducting all aspects of the Operational resilience annual cycle and reporting the status of it through appropriate governance.

In this role you will:

  • Analyse, simplify and update multiple business and other process maps, to reflect the current BAU processes, channels and associated third parties
  • Manage live incidents impacting the Important Business Service
  • Support the delivery of relevant communications to teams outside of the immediate community, to ensure that any changes/improvements to the end-to-end journeys are reviewed and updated in a timely manner
  • Undertake analysis of risks, controls, vulnerabilities and critical assets to identify focus areas in governance
  • Obtaining required data points / information to report the position of services into relevant forums and committees in regard to risk/control/issues, performance and volume metrics, incidents, complaints / conduct risks, material process and regulatory changes and read across from industry events
  • Review outcomes from completed scenario testing business reviews/audits to identify and progress any appropriate recommendations
  • Support the reporting of risk updates to Senior Management on a regular basis
  • Build relationships internally, with the UK and wider HSBC colleagues, so that all teams within the Bank consider risk and apply customer-centric thinking as part of their decision-making processes

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience in dealing with process improvements / optimisation
  • The ability to multi-task, adapt to ever-changing priorities, be able to navigate ambiguity, and possess a deep sense of ownership and attention to detail
  • Naturally curious with an ability to really get to the heart of problems and identify root causes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation abilities, actively listen, and possess the ability to explain issues and decisions to a range of stakeholders
  • Experience of making timely and rational decisions/escalations, based on relevant information and experience
  • A proven track record of working closely with others and wider teams to deliver unified outcomes, but equally comfortable operating on their own initiative as a sole contributor
  • Strong analytical skills

London Office Relocation

Between January and April 2027, many office-based HSBC employees in London will move from either 8 Canada Square or Queen Victoria Street to one of our new sites at St. Paul’s or Canary Wharf. Depending on when they join, successful candidates may start at an existing office before moving or join directly at a new location.
