Operational Risk Analyst

Overview:

This position will work directly with our Operational Risk Manager forming a 2 person team to ensure all current risk processes are monitored and maintained while also assisting with the ongoing development of the function. Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Operational Risk Manager in the ongoing development, implementation, and maintenance of our operational risk management framework.
  • Assist in the Internal Capital Adequacy Risk Assessment (ICARA) process, including:
    • Collection, validation, and analysis of risk data inputs
    • Support with risk identification, assessment, and documentation across business areas
    • Preparation of supporting analysis for harms, operational resilience, and risk scenario assessments
    • Contribute to maintenance of risk registers, including risk descriptions, controls, actions, and ownership
    • Support the monitoring and reporting of Key Risk Indicators and emerging risks
    • Assist with the analysis of incidents, errors, breaches, and near misses, including root cause analysis and tracking of remedial actions
    • Assist with oversight of third-party/outsourcing risks, including due diligence reviews and ongoing monitoring
    • Engage with stakeholders across the business to support risk awareness and promote a strong risk culture
    • Provide ad-hoc analytical support on regulatory, risk, and governance matters as required
    • Support business in the remediation of internal audit recommendations

Background/Experience and Competencies Required:

  • Prior Operational Risk experience within a Financial Services company
  • Foundational understanding of risk concepts including identification and controls, incidents, and governance
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify themes, and draw clear conclusions
  • High attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach to work
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders at different levels of the organization
  • Awareness of UK regulatory frameworks (FCA/ICARA/Investment Firms Prudential Regime (IFPR)) is desirable
