OSG Job Responsibilities
As an OSG, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of staff, visitors, and prisoners at HMP Millsike. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing entry and exit procedures for staff, visitors, contractors, and vehicles.
- Providing exceptional customer service to visitors, fostering a welcoming and safe environment.
- Able to put visitors at ease and answer questions about any aspect of prison life.
- Support visitors and understand that having a loved one in prison can be distressing, anxiety provoking, difficult for families and friends of prisoners.
- Conducting regular patrols to maintain external security.
- Performing searches and confiscating forbidden items in line with policies.
- Escorting visitors and prisoners to ensure safety and security.
- Handling mail and maintaining logs to report contraband items.
- Supervising prisoner activities, including clothing and property exchanges.
- Operating the establishment's radio system and monitoring CCTV.
- Monitoring the prisoners' PIN Phone system and maintaining logs.
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and seeking advice when needed.
- Performing administrative tasks to ensure accurate data maintenance.

Person Specification
Requirements

- Basic to intermediate IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills.
