OT Enterprise Solutions Engineer
Location: London/Hybrid
Contract: 6 Months (Initial)
The Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced OT Enterprise Solutions Engineer to lead the development and evolution of enterprise-wide Operational Technology (OT) architecture for a major organisation operating within a complex, regulated environment.
This is a high-impact role where you'll take ownership of defining the future-state OT architecture, ensuring Operational Technology environments are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with both business objectives and industry best practice.
Working across engineering, infrastructure, networking, cyber security, technology operations, and real estate services, you'll bring together technical expertise from multiple disciplines to develop a cohesive enterprise architecture that supports critical operational systems. Acting as the lead OT Architecture Subject Matter Expert, you'll own architectural direction, governance, and technical decision-making across the organisation's OT landscape.
This is a hands-on architecture role where you'll be responsible for translating complex business and technical requirements into practical, deliverable architecture, standards, and technical designs while working through established Architecture Governance and Technical Design Authority (TDA) processes.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise OT Architecture
- Own and develop the organisation's future-state Operational Technology architecture strategy and roadmap.
- Define enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and technical patterns across OT environments.
- Establish a common architectural approach spanning OT, IT, and cyber-physical systems.
- Ensure OT systems, networks, platforms, applications, devices, and supporting services operate as an integrated enterprise solution.
- Act as the lead architecture authority for all OT technology decisions and initiatives.
- Ensure architecture supports operational resilience, availability, safety, security, and maintainability.
- Balance enterprise standards with regional or operational requirements where appropriate.

Architecture Governance
- Lead architecture reviews through established governance and Technical Design Authority processes.
- Produce high-quality architecture documentation, solution designs, standards, and technical recommendations.
- Translate business requirements, operational risks, and stakeholder priorities into practical architectural solutions.
- Work closely with programme delivery teams to ensure architecture deliverables are completed to agreed quality and timescales.
- Provide technical leadership across engineering teams, suppliers, OEMs, and systems integrators.
Collaboration
- Partner with stakeholders across Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Networking, Engineering, Technology Operations, and Real Estate Services.
- Support enterprise transformation programmes by ensuring all OT solutions align with strategic architecture.
- Provide technical assurance and governance throughout solution delivery.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Extensive Operational Technology (OT) or Industrial Control Systems (ICS) architecture experience within manufacturing, utilities, industrial, or critical infrastructure environments.
- Proven experience operating as a Lead Architect, Enterprise Architect, or Technical Design Authority for OT environments.
- Strong knowledge of IT/OT convergence and enterprise integration architectures.
- Expert understanding of IEC 62443, including practical application of zone and conduit modelling.
- Experience designing secure OT network architectures and operational resilience solutions.
- Strong understanding of industrial protocols including Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA, and Profinet.
- Experience developing enterprise reference architectures, design standards, and technical governance.
- Strong knowledge of OT cyber risk management and translating risk into architectural controls.
- Experience working with systems integrators, engineering partners, and OEM vendors.
- Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to present architectural decisions to senior governance boards.

Desirable
- Experience within highly regulated or global enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), CCTV, Physical Access Control, Fire & Life Safety, Energy Management, or Data Centre operational technologies.
- Experience with OT asset visibility, cyber-physical security platforms, and OT monitoring solutions.
- Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-82, ISO/IEC 27001, NIS2, or similar industry standards.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture methodologies such as TOGAF or SABSA.
- Experience designing architectures for legacy operational environments with high availability requirements.
- Relevant certifications in Enterprise Architecture, Networking, Cyber Security, or IEC 62443.
