Operational Technology (OT) Contractor – Senior Manager/Associate Director level
400-700pd Inside IR35
London & the Midlands hybrid
About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced Operational Technology Audit/IT Audit professional to join on a contract basis at SM/AD level. The role will focus on managing risk within complex OT environments, supporting clients with assurance activities, and leading engagements that deliver both compliance and strategic value.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of OT-related assurance and risk management assignments, ensuring delivery exceeds client expectations.
- Manage and develop project teams, providing coaching and guidance.
- Maintain strong client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor across multiple engagements.
- Oversee budgets, billing, and timely collections to ensure commercial success of projects.
- Lead stakeholder and governance meetings, including risk committee and senior leadership sessions.
- Provide insights on risk mitigation, process improvements, and control enhancements in OT environments.

Minimum Requirements
- Professional qualification (e.g. CISA, ACCA, ACA, CISM, CISSP, or relevant engineering/OT certifications) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Strong track record managing risk and assurance engagements within Operational Technology environments (e.g. energy, utilities, transport, manufacturing).
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and lead teams effectively.
- Extensive experience using risk management and audit software, alongside strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience presenting to senior stakeholders, boards, or committees.
- Proven ability to review and challenge risk assessments, audit planning, and technical findings.
- Proactive, solutions-driven mindset with a strong focus on client value and delivery.

Preferred Experience
- Audit and/or risk experience in Operational Technology environments — including wind farms, gas, factories — with exposure to legacy/older systems and controls.
- Senior Manager/Associate Director-level experience reviewing OT risks in the energy sector (electricity, gas, water, utilities) and working with major operators.
- Practical understanding of air-gapped environments and associated risks/assurance challenges.
- Experience delivering internal audits, risk reviews, and assurance engagements in OT-heavy industries.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and security frameworks relevant to OT and critical national infrastructure.
