Our Head Office is based in Stockton-on-Tees and is home to our administrative support teams, engineering & maintenance support team & energy services teams. The Offices are located on the river Tees with close access to walks, shops, and restaurants.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for an Operational Training & Competence Advisor.

The Training & Competence Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining training and competency assurance programmes that support the safe, compliant, and effective delivery of operations across the px Group portfolio using the px training and competency framework.

You’ll be supported with personalised on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring, and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

This role is key to supporting the process that ensures employees possess the appropriate skills, knowledge, qualifications, and behavioural competencies required to perform their roles safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations, customer requirements, and company standards.

The position also provides direct line management to members of the Training and Competence team, ensuring the effective delivery of training services, workforce development initiatives, and competency management processes that support operational excellence and business performance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review, improve, and maintain training frameworks aligned to organisational and industry requirements.
  • Conduct training needs analyses across operations and support functions.
  • Develop annual training plans and competency development strategies aligned with agreed budgets.
  • Coordinate delivery of technical, safety, leadership, and mandatory training programmes.
  • Maintain competence management systems and competency matrices, identifying continuous improvement and making any agreed changes.
  • Ensure competency assessment processes meet organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Support internal and external audits relating to training and competence.
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and project teams to ensure operations readiness.
  • Support mobilisation and onboarding activities for new personnel.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to px SHE policies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Training, learning, and development qualification or demonstrable experience in training management.
  • Experience within oil, gas, power, energy, or industrial services environments.
  • Experience in training, learning, and development or competence assurance.
  • Experience managing technical and compliance-based training programmes.
  • Previous line management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS).
