Hays Senior Finance are recruiting for an Operations Accountant to join a well-established international engineering and maintenance business based in Bridgend. Reporting to the UK Finance Director and working closely with the Site Managing Director, this is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to become a key finance business partner within the organisation.
This hybrid opportunity offers the chance to play an active role in supporting operational decision-making, improving financial performance, driving efficiencies and implementing process improvements across the business. Working closely with both finance and operational stakeholders, you will provide valuable insight into profitability, cost control and business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of customer revenues and margins across multiple product and service lines.
- Deliver insightful reporting on customer, project and operational profitability.
- Challenge costs, improve margin performance and support efficiency initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate financial management and control of operational systems and processes.
- Manage stock accounting, reconciliations and key balance sheet controls.
- Work closely with operational stakeholders and customers to improve financial performance and credit control processes.
- Support audit requirements and ensure robust financial controls are maintained.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and wider business planning activities.
- Play a key role in the implementation of new finance and operational systems.
- Partner closely with senior management to support informed business decision-making.

What We're Looking For:
- Qualified or qualified by experience.
- Previous experience within a commercial finance, management accounting or finance business partnering role.
- Understanding of project accounting, including percentage of completion (POC) revenue recognition.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for improving processes and driving performance.
- Confident influencing senior stakeholders and challenging where appropriate.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Experience working alongside external stakeholders such as auditors, customers or banking partners would be advantageous.
