Background
Obsidian is a new entrant to the intermediary platform market and is currently in the final stages of its FCA application to provide custody and execution services to advisers. We are looking to build a skilled team that will help establish our operational framework and provide the foundations for the business as we continue to grow. This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at an early stage and play a meaningful role in shaping how our operations develop.
Purpose
To perform the day-to-day operational administration of Obsidian Securities Limited's MiFID business (GIA and ISA products), covering the full client lifecycle from onboarding and AML/KYC checks through to ongoing account administration, trade execution & settlement, and client servicing. The role carries direct responsibility for completing the firm's client money and custody asset reconciliations under CASS 6 and CASS 7. The post-holder is expected to work within defined procedures and published SLAs, referring cases outside standard processing to the Head of Operations in the first instance, and escalating to Compliance or the Board only where policy decisions, contentious cases, or regulatory judgement calls arise.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
