Operations Associate

About Clipboard

Our mission is to uplift as many communities as possible. We do this through our app-based marketplace that connects healthcare professionals with the workplaces that need amazing workers. This enables hundreds of thousands of people to achieve financial stability for themselves and their families while providing essential care to millions of people across the U.S.

Founded in 2016, we are a remote-first team of over 1,000 people building a top Y-Combinator company and have been profitable since 2022. We’re the leader in Long-Term Care staffing and are rapidly expanding into Home Health, Hospitals, and more, meaning we have more work to do than people to do it. We are growing our team to support millions more people and their communities.

The Opportunity: Operations Strategy Associate

About the Role

The Operations Strategy Associate role is a generalist position at Clipboard suited for the "all-around athlete"—someone who thrives across disciplines and seeks exposure to a variety of problems and opportunities.

  • You’ll embrace a problem-solving mindset, tackling challenges that span project management, data analysis, process improvement, team leadership, or direct execution.
  • Expect high-impact, fast-paced work that directly impacts our customers, product, and business.
  • No single day will be the same, as flexibility and adaptability are critical to your success.

What Might You Actually Do?

Our goal is to provide a diverse and impactful early experience. Here are examples of initiatives you could lead or contribute to:

  • Customer Conversion Process: Redesign the process for upselling or transitioning workplaces from payment methods like checks to streamlined solutions such as eCheck to accelerate cash conversion.

  • Vendor Innovation & Integration: Research and evaluate a new vendor capable of embedding AI-driven agent solutions into our frontline service offerings, enhancing customer efficiency and closure rates.

  • Predictive Analytics: Build an internal predictive model to flag potential poor payers, enabling proactive risk management and cash flow protection.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Operations & Execution: Direct a team of agents or immerse yourself in frontline workflows, resolving customer issues and identifying actionable process improvements.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We’re looking for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, problem-first environment. Here’s what success looks like:

Core Traits

  • Are insatiably curious, spot patterns quickly, and dive deep to uncover first principles. Optimism and creativity are beyond assumptions—they go straight for the root cause.

  • Go to the source. Refuse to delegate "investigation duties" to others. Get hands-on—digitize a workflow yourself, shadow a call center agent, or dig through customer support tickets to see the real story.

  • Have tenacity. When the path isn’t clear, reframe the question, cobble together ideas, and go deeper. Waiting for perfect clarity sometimes slows momentum.

  • Fail cheaply and iteratively. Shadow, pilot, experiment, and adjust. Big mistakes warrant caution—low-cost, fast missteps teach the most.

  • Other desirable characteristics:

    • No hard-and-fast industry experience required—curiosity and learning agility matter most.
    • Previous experience in financial reconciliation, process optimization, data investigation, or operations is a plus but not mandatory.
    • We value process thinking, communication, and consistency more than sharp subject expertise alone.

Potency Pyramid

We’re prioritizing candidates who demonstrate:

  1. Problem Solving (Tackling ambiguity and solving fiction)
  2. Communication (Translating complex ideas for diverse audiences)
  3. Transparent Execution (Testing hypotheses, learning fast, iterating)
