Job Opportunity: Operations Professional at Hedge Fund
Our client, a circa $1bn AUM Hedge Fund, is seeking a key non-investment hire to join their team.
Role Overview
Operating with a small, highly experienced team, the business is looking to make a key hire to work directly alongside its COO, effectively acting as their'shadow', whilst also taking ownership for hands-on operations, treasury, financing and some compliance tasks.
As almost all of the non-investment remit is outsourced, a large proportion of the work will be oversight of what is produced externally and analysis of what comes in-house. However, the treasury / financing component will be hands-on.
Project / value-add tasks are also key. The hire will work with COO on major initiatives, for example projects to bring currently outsourced operational activities in-house, automation projects for existing processes / infrastructure and more broadly taking on shadow work within the COO’s remit (that you will be well trained on by them).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why This Opportunity?
This is a particularly attractive opportunity for somebody who wants to move away from a siloed operational role and develop a much broader skill set within a growing hedge fund. The opportunity offers direct exposure to senior management, genuine responsibility from day one and the chance to play an important role in the ongoing development of a growing investment business.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with approximately 2-5yrs hedge fund / IB experience, most likely in operations / middle office / treasury – a good understanding of collateral, margin and financing processes would be particularly advantageous. Above all, our client is looking for a bright, proactive and commercially minded individual who enjoys taking ownership, is comfortable working autonomously and is keen to broaden their responsibilities. An interest in technology, Python or AI-driven process automation would be highly beneficial.
