Operations Chemist
Role Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented chemist to support our environmental testing as well as provide chemical preparation services to support our semi-conductor fab. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our environmental compliance as well as the manufacturing of cutting edge laser technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be able to collect samples for analysis in an accurate and representative way.
- Use a range of analytical equipment to provide fast and accurate data to a dynamic fabrication facility.
- Report data to a wider team that may not have a fundamental understanding of the techniques used to generate the data.
- Report data as well as maintain equipment and analysis records in a way that complies with internationally recognised standards.
- Provide advice and support for the handling and disposal of chemical inputs and outputs of a large fabrication facility.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend preventive measures.
- Coordinate and conduct health and safety training sessions for employees, including induction training for new hires regarding chemical safety.
- Liaise with department managers to address chemical concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare chemical mixes and etches to support fab operations.
- Do chemical cleans of certain reusable components.

Qualifications:
- HNC/GNVQ/ Bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
- Basic understanding of chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis techniques.
- Experience working in a lab environment and with dangerous materials would be advantageous but not critical.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
