About the Role
We are looking to add a dynamic, ambitious, strategic and methodical Operations & Commercial Director to lead the already established team of operations professionals.
The Operations & Commercial Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Leatherhead.
The Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the role is to develop a strategy based on the existing methods to be able to achieve our company goals by motivating and mentoring the operations team made up of HR, Purchasing, SHEQ, Logistics & Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Management Team
- Attend and contribute to Management meetings
- Contribute to planning of company strategy and production of Business plan
- Produce and present reports for each monthly management meeting
- Ensure forecasting and KPI tracking across the department
- Help finance keep monthly sales predictions up to date
- Manage and look to increase Gross Margin
- Manage prices and price increases
- Work with other members of the Management team for a company focused approach from each department
- Assist with delivery of an integrated company system to facilitate the improved extraction of data to improved efficiency within the company
- Use system data to deliver forecasts and areas for focus for the sales, aftersales and management teams

Managing the Team
- Carry out appraisals annually plus 6-monthly 1:1 reviews, KPI monitoring, performance management
- Set clear targets, working methods and development plans for all the team
- Ensure training is provided as required
- Mentoring to help achieve KPI’s
- Drive margins via price lists generation, purchase and delivery costs
- Work with installation and aftersales to coordinate operations such as with costings of installations and spares sales
- Ensure that all training is managed, scheduled and delivered with feedback as to the effectiveness of the activity
- Use and manage HubSpot and Sage 200 to generate reports and to manipulate data to drive efficiency
- Finance – projections and analysis
- SHEQ – Manage systems and quality
- HR – Manage policies, appraisals, training and development and recruitment
- Purchasing – Stock turn, stock takes, stock value, orders and deliveries to maximise margins
- Logistics – delivery costs from suppliers plus to customers, stock take accuracy, stock locations

Suppliers & Products
- Work with purchasing to ensure that manufacturers price lists are up to date and ensuring margins
- Visit suppliers for commercial awareness and to build relationships
- Review product margins on a regular basis for better commercial outcome
Humidity Direct
- Drive efficiency to maximise sales and traffic to the e-commerce site working with customer services and sales
- Increase products on the site to include self-contained units
- Manage the e-commerce site
Essential Experience
- Proven experience leading operational teams
- Experience working within the engineering industry
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to oversee multiple operational functions
- A track record of implementing operational improvements that deliver measurable business results
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience creating KPIs and reporting
- A proactive, collaborative leadership style with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement
