Operational Coordinator (Mon-Thurs Night Shift)
Location: Macclesfield
Function: Operations Manufacturing
Introduction to role
Are you experienced in pharmaceutical manufacturing and looking for an opportunity to take greater ownership of day-to-day production?
As an Operations Coordinator, you’ll help coordinate short-term production activities, ensuring we meet customer demand safely, efficiently and in line with GMP requirements. You’ll work closely with operating teams, Process Leaders, Quality Assurance and other support functions to keep production on track and help resolve issues as they arise.
You’ll also have the opportunity to coach colleagues, contribute to continuous improvement and help create an environment where people can perform at their best.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate short-term production and resource planning, working collaboratively with PET Circle Leaders and operating teams.
- Support the delivery of production schedules while maintaining SHE and GMP standards.
- Carry out production readiness checks to make sure the right resources, components and documentation are in place.
- Help maintain an inspection-ready manufacturing environment.
- Use your production knowledge to resolve operational issues, working closely with Quality Assurance and other support teams.
- Complete and approve relevant GMP and batch documentation to support batch release.
- Raise and investigate Quality Notifications and follow appropriate procedures where required.
- Monitor performance and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and delivery.
- Use Lean Manufacturing approaches and tools, including root cause analysis and waste walks, to support continuous improvement.
- Coach and support operating teams through on-the-job guidance and training.
- Provide clear feedback and communication to Process Leaders and colleagues.
- Work flexibly across the PET to support effective resourcing and production delivery.
- Support specific asset care and maintenance activities, including Safe Systems of Work and relevant SAP notifications.

Essential skills and experience
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Experience in aseptic or clean-area production.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to make effective decisions and support teams in delivering challenging production schedules.
- Good operational knowledge of manufacturing procedures and compliance requirements.
- The ability to work within an aseptic processing environment.
Desirable skills and experience
It would be beneficial if you also have:
- Experience leading or supervising production teams.
- Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work procedures.
- First Aid experience.
- Experience applying Lean tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant AstraZeneca IT systems.
