The role will work alongside our CEO as their principle operational partner.

Trent Rivers Trust is an award-winning charity, that is now delivering our 2025-2030 business strategy. We believe the Trent has enormous potential for recovery, and 25 years of experience puts us in a position to play a leading role in the river becoming a vibrant lifeline for communities and wildlife.
As a charity and member of the Rivers Trust movement, we do this by making a hands-on difference. We take a practical, level-headed approach and work closely with local communities, landowners, businesses, and government bodies to implement innovative projects dedicated to improving river health.

Over the last eight years, Trent Rivers Trust (TRT) has expanded rapidly. We went from eight members of staff to 25 and have hugely increased the scale of our projects.
TRT delivers a variety of projects of different lengths and complexity and has 4 work areas. These are:
- Catchment Recovery
- Land Use and Water
- River Restoration
- Connecting People and Rivers
Role Description
This is a strategic and hands-on operational role overseeing organisational systems, supporting governance, HR, compliance, health & safety, programme management and internal operations.
The role will also provide operational support to projects, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, on time, in line with organisational standards and meet contractual requirements.
In addition, the Operations Director will play a central role in supporting people and culture within the organisation. This includes overseeing recruitment, staff onboarding, performance management, and wellbeing initiatives, fostering a positive and inclusive working environment.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will contribute to organisational strategy, provide regular updates on programme delivery, and report to the Board of Trustees as required.
The role will suit someone who thrives in dynamic organisations, enjoys problem-solving and optimising systems, understanding and making sense of complexity, and is motivated by supporting teams to deliver meaningful and lasting environmental impact.
Working closely with the CEO, the post holder will help create the capacity for the organisation to continue growing whilst maintaining the collaborative culture and values that define Trent Rivers Trust.
