About The Role

Reporting to the Vice President UK, the Operations Director will lead the safe, compliant, efficient and commercially effective delivery of UK operational services. Success in the role will depend not only on operational expertise, but also on a strong fit with MISTRAS' values, culture and ways of working. As an inclusive and collaborative leader, they will build trusted relationships, listen to and engage colleagues, and create an environment in which teams across locations work together, share ownership and perform at their best. Through clear direction, coaching and partnership, they will unite people around common goals and strengthen service delivery, resource planning, project execution, continuous improvement and client outcomes. They will also work closely with the Technical Director to ensure that technical standards, engineering integrity and specialist capability are fully embedded in operational practice.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership and Strategy

  • Contribute to the organisation's UK business strategy, annual operating plan, budget and growth priorities.
  • Translate strategic objectives into operational plans, performance measures and delivery priorities and successfully communicate these to the wider management team and employees in the UK.
  • Creation and implementation of the company's operational processes in the UK and ensure operational teams follow approved processes, procedures, competence requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Create, promote and report on operational KPIs including general performance, incidents, near misses, non-conformances and improvement actions.
  • Lead business and operational change initiatives, including process improvement, systems adoption, organisational design and integration of global best practice.

Leadership and People Management

  • Manage and lead direct reports in the UK including where appropriate:
    • resource planning and recruitment.
    • agree targets and objectives and regularly monitor performance to ensure services are delivered to clients profitably.
    • regular communication through informal and formal channels such as team and one to one meetings.
    • coach, mentor and train.
  • Champion a culture of safety, quality, integrity, collaboration, innovation and customer focus.

About You

Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Significant senior operational leadership experience in a technical services, engineering, inspection, asset integrity, energy, industrial, infrastructure or related environment.
  • A proven track record of leading multi-site or field-based operations with responsibility for safety, quality, service delivery and commercial performance through building trusted relationships, engaging with colleagues, and sharing ownership to allow everyone to perform at their best.
  • Experience of managing operational budgets, workforce utilisation, project delivery, productivity and margin improvement.
  • Strong understanding of regulated, safety-critical or compliance-led operational environments.
  • Experience working with senior clients and leading operational teams to deliver complex technical services.
