Owen Mumford is looking to hire an ambitious Operations Finance Manager! Could this be your next role?

As the Operations Finance Manager you will ensure the provision of accurate, high quality financial reporting and management accounts, supporting the development of financial models and driving improvement in financial processes. This role will collaborate with managers to improve efficiency, accuracy in financial data and assist in key decision making, ultimately to improve the profit of the business.

Please be aware this role is offered on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the finance partner to Operations leadership, supporting business performance, integration activities and decision-making.
  • Lead the monthly Operations finance process, including month-end close, management reporting and variance analysis.
  • Lead the development of the Annual Operating Plan and quarterly forecast processes, working with manufacturing site leaders to understand changes in volumes, material prices (PPV), labour, overheads and waste.
  • Provide financial input at Operations leadership meetings, including financial management, budgets, key metrics and performance improvements.
  • Standardise Operations finance reporting, including dashboards, budgets and forecasts, in line with wider embecta requirements.
  • Ensure forecasts, budgets and supporting schedules are accurate, complete and submitted on time and lead the review process with site and corporate leadership teams.
  • Lead the annual standard costing process for manufactured parts, working with site leaders and the Continuous Improvement (CI) team to ensure accurate data and a streamlined process, and review cost changes with leadership teams.
  • Calculation of intra group transfer prices, based upon the methodology determined by the Group Finance Director. Communicating the new transfer prices to all overseas affiliates, circulating updated lists monthly to cover new products.
  • Support capital investment decisions, attending all capital budget request meetings, ensuring compliance with capital expenditure policies and maintaining appropriate fixed asset records and approvals.
  • Assisting managers with post completion audits of selected capital projects, to ensure that expected benefits are being realised.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring the balance sheet accurately reflects inventory values.
  • Work with the CI team to perform to perform cost benefit analysis, as needed.
  • Ensure financial reporting complies with US GAAP, embecta policies and internal controls, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations as required by the Sarbanes / Oxley Act.
  • Support internal and external financial audits.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need

  • To be a Qualified Accountant - ACCA or CIMA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in Finance / Accounting – essential
  • 5+ years’ in manufacturing with product costing methodologies - essential
  • A good understanding of all aspects of accounting under UK GAAP
  • Experience in Epicor / SAP or other manufacturing ERP systems
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting, including IRR / NPV principles
  • Recent experience of working with standard costing, variance analysis and product costing – Desirable
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and implement solutions to resolve problems
  • To be creative and able to translate financial data/analysis to non-finance individuals
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills

As part of your application, please provide evidence of how you meet the following essential requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience of costing methodologies, including examples from previous roles.
