Operations Lead (AI Lab)

Build the Operating System Behind One of the World's Most Ambitious Applied AI Companies

Location: London (Preferred), Dubai or San Francisco

Reports to: Founder & CEO

About Smart Bricks

Smart Bricks is building the intelligence layer for the world's physical economy. Every year, trillions of dollars are invested across real estate, infrastructure, energy, and other real assets using fragmented systems, disconnected data, and institutional knowledge trapped inside spreadsheets, PDFs, and people's heads. We're changing that.

We're building an AI-native platform and Applied AI Lab that enables investors, developers, governments, and Fortune 500 companies to make faster, better, and more explainable decisions across the entire lifecycle of physical assets—from sourcing and underwriting to due diligence, portfolio management, and capital allocation.

Our ambition isn't simply to build another software company. We're building an organisation that continuously learns from the world's largest institutions and turns that knowledge into software. That requires an entirely different operating model.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Operations Lead to build the operating system behind our AI Lab. This is not a traditional operations role. This is not programme management. This is not internal administration.

You'll work directly with the Founder & CEO and the executive leadership team to build the operational foundations of what we believe will become one of the world's leading Applied AI companies. You'll create the systems, processes, and rhythms that allow the company to move with the speed of a startup while operating with the discipline of a global enterprise.

As the company grows, you'll help shape every part of how Smart Bricks operates—from recruiting and finance to customer delivery, strategic partnerships, and international expansion. This is one of the broadest and highest-impact roles in the company.

Your Mission

Build the operating system that enables Smart Bricks to scale globally. Your responsibility is simple: Make the company dramatically more effective every month. You'll remove friction. Improve execution. Build repeatable systems. Create leverage across every function. If something slows the company down, you'll own solving it.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for builders. People who enjoy solving complex organisational problems. You're equally comfortable:

  • Designing company processes.
  • Leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Working with enterprise customers.
  • Improving operational efficiency.
  • Recruiting exceptional people.
  • Building financial models.
  • Negotiating vendors.
  • Supporting fundraising.
  • Solving unexpected problems.

You thrive in ambiguity. You move quickly. You naturally create structure where none exists. Most importantly, you think like an owner.

Ideal Background

We're particularly interested in people who have experience in environments such as:

  • High-growth AI companies.
  • Enterprise software.
  • Founder Associate or CEO Office.
  • Strategy & Operations.
  • General Management.
  • Startup COO.
  • Top-tier consulting followed by operating roles.
  • Venture-backed companies scaling from Seed through Series B/C.

You've likely helped build a company rather than simply manage one.

Leadership Principles

You'll thrive here if you:

  • Think like a founder.
  • Bias towards action.
  • Solve problems proactively.
  • Sweat the details.
  • Raise standards.
  • Build systems that last.
  • Communicate with clarity.
  • Operate with urgency.
  • Take ownership far beyond your job description.

Why Join

Very few operations leaders get the opportunity to build the operating system of a category-defining AI company from the ground up. This is one of them.

You'll work directly with the Founder and founding leadership team to shape how Smart Bricks scales globally. You'll influence every major decision the company makes. You'll help recruit world-class leaders. You'll build the operational foundations that enable the AI Lab to become the intelligence layer for the world's physical economy.

If you're excited about building organisations that execute faster than companies ten times their size, we'd love to hear from you.
