Operations Manager – Heat Networks
Location: London
Salary: Competitive Salary + Benefits
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm
Sector: Heat Networks / Energy Services / Building Services
The Opportunity
An established and growing energy services business is looking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to lead a portfolio of high-density Heat Networks across London.
The business has an excellent reputation within the energy and building services sector and is investing significantly in its Heat Networks offering as it looks to capitalise on the continued growth of the UK market.
This is a key operational appointment with responsibility for the performance of existing contracts, leadership of the engineering team and successful mobilisation of new sites as the portfolio continues to expand.
The successful candidate will combine a strong technical background with excellent people management, client-facing and commercial skills.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the Heat Network Services team and its London portfolio.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, managing and developing a team of engineers
- Managing service delivery across a portfolio of high-density Heat Networks
- Ensuring planned and reactive maintenance is delivered in line with contractual SLAs
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients
- Acting as a key point of contact for customers
- Supporting engineers with technical and operational issues
- Monitoring contract performance, productivity and profitability
- Managing PPM schedules and service reporting
- Driving improvements in network reliability and reducing downtime
- Supporting asset management and verification across new and existing sites
- Mobilising new Heat Network contracts and sites
- Managing and developing apprentices, improvers and junior team members
- Supporting engineer recruitment, appraisals and development
- Working closely with Health & Safety and Compliance teams
- Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery through technology, remote monitoring and automation
- Supporting the continued commercial growth of the Heat Networks portfolio

About You
We are looking for an experienced operational leader with a strong technical grounding in HVAC, building services, energy services or Heat Networks.
You should be comfortable leading engineers while also managing senior client relationships and taking responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of your contracts.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven engineering experience within HVAC, building services, energy or a related environment
- Previous experience managing engineers or technical teams
- Strong operational and commercial awareness
- Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing planned and reactive maintenance contracts
- A strong understanding of Health & Safety and compliance
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- The ability to manage multiple sites and competing operational priorities
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Full UK driving licence

Direct Heat Network experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates with strong transferable experience from the wider HVAC, building services or energy sectors will also be considered.
