We’re working with a well-established specialist roofing and construction business that is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take ownership of its operational delivery and help drive the business forward.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the projects, the people and the commercial detail, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, profitably and to a consistently high standard.
The Role
You’ll have responsibility for overseeing day-to-day operations across a portfolio of roofing projects, while taking direct management responsibility for a small number of high-profile projects from inception through to completion.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing 1–3 high-profile projects, while maintaining oversight across the wider project portfolio
- Developing effective programmes and schedules to ensure projects are delivered on time
- Driving quality assurance and continuous improvement across operational delivery
- Allocating manpower effectively based on skills, experience and project requirements
- Supporting the recruitment and development of installation teams
- Overseeing material procurement, equipment and machinery management
- Leading PDP and performance reviews, identifying training and development opportunities
- Managing internal and external relationships and resolving issues effectively
- Maintaining strong communication with clients throughout project delivery and post-completion
- Reviewing workflows and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
- Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date order book and key project documentation
- Supporting budgeting, tendering and price certainty alongside the pre-construction team
- Monitoring project costs, reviewing monthly job costings and protecting profitability
- Ensuring compliance with relevant building, health & safety and industry regulations
- Managing relationships with key suppliers and supporting commercial negotiations
- Monitoring the timely delivery of materials and services
- Keeping senior leadership informed of operational performance, risks and opportunities

About You
We’re looking for someone with a strong operational background within roofing, construction or a closely related environment, who can combine commercial awareness with practical project and people management.

You’ll ideally bring:
- Proven experience in an operations or senior project management position
- Experience managing multiple construction/roofing projects
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, resource planning and cost control
- Experience leading and developing operational teams
- Good knowledge of health & safety and regulatory requirements
- Strong supplier and client relationship management skills
- A commercially minded approach, with an understanding of project profitability
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges
