Application Deadline: 7 September 2026

Department: Operations

Location: Gateshead

Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading safe, structured and high-performing operations across our treatment and processing activities. This role is built for a leader who develops people first – someone who sets standards, builds capability, drives accountability and creates a culture where safety, performance and continuous improvement are embedded in everyday behaviours. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant influence over operational culture, team development and long-term performance.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership and Culture

  • Build a high-performing, engaged and accountable operational team.
  • Coach, mentor and develop colleagues through structured development plans and regular feedback.
  • Set clear expectations, role clarity and behavioural standards.
  • Lead with visibility, consistency and credibility – modelling the behaviours expected across the site.
  • Create a culture of ownership, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Safety Leadership

  • Champion a safety-first mindset, ensuring all activities meet H&S legislation and internal standards.
  • Lead risk assessments, safe systems of work, incident investigations and behavioural safety conversations.
  • Embed proactive safety behaviours and structured safety routines across the team.

Operational Leadership

  • Own day-to-day operational delivery across treatment, processing and transfer activities.
  • Ensure throughput, quality, compliance and service levels are consistently achieved.
  • Maintain structured operational control through visual management, standardized work and clear escalation processes.
  • Drive stability, discipline and clarity in daily operations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
