The Role

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Operations Manager to lead the operational activities at our Immingham Container Terminal (ICT). This is a fantastic opportunity for an operational leader to take ownership of a busy container terminal operation, leading teams, driving safety and performance standards, and delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Reporting to the Head of Unitised

You will be responsible for the leadership, performance and development of the terminal operation. Managing a team of Assistant Operations Managers and operational personnel, you will ensure all activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with customer and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing a high-performing operational team.
  • Driving a positive safety and process safety culture throughout the terminal.
  • Ensuring operational activities are planned and executed safely and efficiently.
  • Managing terminal operational budgets and expenditure.
  • Driving continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Building strong customer relationships and leading customer review meetings.
  • Delivering and exceeding contractual service levels where possible.
  • Ensuring compliance with all terminal operating procedures and safety standards.
  • Supporting future growth and operational development plans.

About You

We're looking for someone who can combine strong leadership with operational expertise and commercial awareness.

You'll ideally have:

  • Significant operational management experience within logistics, ports, terminals, manufacturing, distribution or a similarly complex operational environment.
  • A strong health and safety focus.
  • Proven experience managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A customer-focused and commercially minded approach.
  • Experience managing budgets and operational performance.
  • A track record of driving continuous improvement and change.
  • Experience within a unionised environment would be beneficial but is not essential.

Working Hours

This role is based on Monday to Friday, 44 hours per week, you will also be expected to provide support outside of normal working hours. Regular evening, night and weekend out-of-hours calls may be required, and attendance on site will be expected when operational circumstances demand.
