Role Description
The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day production and fabrication activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards. This full-time, on-site role in Wellingborough includes coordinating workloads, managing resources, and supporting continuous improvement across the shop floor and office. The position involves supervising and developing team members, monitoring performance, and enforcing health, safety, and quality procedures. The Operations Manager will collaborate closely with senior leadership, engineering, and commercial teams to optimize workflows, manage schedules, and maintain strong customer service. The role also includes reporting on operational metrics, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions to support sustainable growth.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in operations or production management within engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, coaching, and performance management.
- Proficiency in planning, organizing, and coordinating multiple projects, with solid time management and prioritization abilities.
- Working knowledge of fabrication processes, stainless steel and aluminum work, and familiarity with.
- Commitment to health and safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., ).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with attention to detail and a focus on operational efficiency.
- Experience using production planning software is an advantage.
- Relevant vocational or academic qualifications in engineering, sheet metal fabrication, or business management are beneficial.
