The role
We’re supporting a growing B Corp food business to find an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to lead its Production and Warehouse operations.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll take responsibility for ensuring the day-to-day operation runs safely, efficiently and cost-effectively, while helping to improve how the business operates as it grows.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the operation. You’ll lead and develop the Production and Warehouse teams, solve problems as they arise and use data to understand where processes, productivity and performance can be improved.
What you'll focus on
A key focus will be making Production and Warehouse operations more efficient. You’ll look critically at existing processes, planning and ways of working, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, and reduce inefficiencies. Where appropriate, you’ll also support the evaluation and implementation of equipment, systems and automation opportunities.
You’ll own operational KPIs and work closely with Finance to strengthen dashboards and reporting, giving the business better visibility of performance. Rather than simply reporting the numbers, you’ll use data and root-cause analysis to understand what’s driving them and turn those insights into practical improvements across productivity, labour efficiency, waste, quality, service levels and inventory.
Just as importantly, you’ll play a key role in continuing to build a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement. You’ll lead from the front, set clear expectations and help create an environment where people take responsibility for performance, challenge assumptions and actively look for better ways of doing things.

What you’ll be responsible for
Operational Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day management of Production and Warehouse operations.
- Ensure operational activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements.
- Deliver production plans while maintaining quality, service and cost targets.
- Monitor operational performance and take corrective action where required.
- Drive a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.
People Management
- Lead, motivate and develop Production and Warehouse teams.
- Manage Team Leaders and Supervisors to ensure consistent standards.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management.
- Ensure staffing levels are aligned with production requirements.
- Build a high-performing team culture focused on safety, quality and productivity.
Planning & Inventory
- Work closely with Planning, Procurement and Commercial team members to ensure operational readiness.
- Support inventory accuracy and effective stock management.
- Monitor production capacity and identify risks to service levels.
- Help ensure materials, labour and equipment are available to meet demand.
KPI Management
- Own and report operational KPIs.
- Monitor productivity, labour efficiency, waste, quality, service levels and inventory performance.
- Use data and root-cause analysis to identify issues and drive improvements.
- Develop actions to improve operational performance and reduce inefficiencies.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity and operational efficiency.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of equipment, systems and automation opportunities.
- Lead investigations into operational issues and implement corrective actions.
- Help establish robust systems and controls across the operation.

Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Promote a positive food safety culture throughout the business.
- Ensure compliance with BRC, HACCP, Health & Safety and legal requirements.
- Participate in audits and drive corrective actions where required.
- Maintain high standards of product quality and operational compliance.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and service providers.
- Work collaboratively with Commercial, Procurement, NPD and Finance teams.
- Escalate operational risks and provide practical solutions.
What you’ll need
- Experience in an Operations Manager, Production Manager, Factory Manager or similar role.
- Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a fast-moving production environment.
- Strong people leadership and team management skills.
- Experience managing KPIs and operational performance.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements.
- Ability to work in a hands-on SME environment.
Nice to have
- Experience of BRC audits.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience implementing productivity improvements.
- Experience supporting automation or capital investment projects.
- HACCP Level 3.
- Food Safety Level 3.
