Operations Manager – Financial Services
Manchester | Hybrid
An established global financial services organisation is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead and develop a team within its Manchester operation.
This is a people-focused management role, ideal for someone who enjoys leading teams, managing performance, developing individuals and creating a positive, high-performing working environment.
You’ll take ownership of a team within a busy operational function, balancing day-to-day people management with service delivery, client expectations and continuous improvement.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you will:
- Lead, manage and develop a team within a financial services operations environment.
- Take responsibility for recruitment, onboarding, coaching, development and performance management.
- Manage a range of employee relations matters, dealing confidently with issues and supporting colleagues through challenges.
- Motivate the team and create an environment where people are engaged, accountable and able to perform at their best.
- Set clear objectives and monitor individual and team performance against agreed KPIs.
- Manage resource allocation to ensure the team can effectively meet business and client requirements.
- Ensure work is delivered accurately, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
- Act as a senior point of escalation for complex operational or client issues.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and ensure a consistently high level of client service.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and the overall way the team operates.
- Support projects, change initiatives and new client implementations where required.
- Monitor MI, KPIs and KRIs and use data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure the team operates within the required regulatory, risk and control framework.

About You
The key requirement for this role is strong people management experience.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Significant experience managing and leading operational teams.
- A proven track record of coaching, developing and motivating people.
- Strong experience handling employee relations, including performance management and difficult conversations.
- The confidence to make decisions, manage challenging situations and hold people accountable.
- Experience managing workloads, resource and competing priorities within a busy environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A genuine interest in developing people and building high-performing teams.
- Good Excel and general systems skills, with the ability to use MI and data to support decision-making.
- Experience within financial services, banking, investment, pensions, wealth management or another regulated environment.

The Technical Side
- Previous funds or mutual fund experience would be advantageous, but isn't necessarily essential.
- The role could suit an experienced Operations Manager from a wider financial services background who has the right leadership, people management and operational management skills.
- Experience of process improvement, automation or continuous improvement would also be beneficial.
