Backshift Operations Manager
Location: Central Belt of Scotland
Salary: DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, backshift, with flexibility to meet business needs
I’m genuinely excited to be representing my client in their search for a Backshift Operations Manager.
Reporting to the Factory Manager, you’ll oversee two production areas and manage two Production Managers, keeping production on track and making sure standards stay high.
I’m looking for someone who leads by example, gets the best out of their people and finds practical ways to make things run better.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the backshift operation, setting clear expectations and delivering production and service targets.
- Maintain food safety, health and safety, product quality, traceability and customer specification standards.
- Manage staffing and labour costs, including team rotation, holidays and absence cover.
- Monitor performance and improve yield, labour efficiency, waste and product giveaway.
- Develop your managers and their teams through training, performance management and succession planning.
- Run structured meetings, keep communication clear and ensure issues are escalated and production systems are used correctly.

What I’m looking for
- Significant management experience within food manufacturing, with strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience working to BRC standards.
- Level 3 Food Hygiene or equivalent, plus HACCP certification.
- Someone who can motivate teams, hold people accountable and turn improvement plans into results.
- Good numeracy, attention to detail and clear spoken and written English.
- A flexible, adaptable approach and a willingness to support others’ development.
- The right to work in the UK.
