About us
Kensite are one of the North West's leading providers of portable site accommodation and welfare units - over 2,000 units, our own haulage fleet, and customers across construction, civils, utilities and local authorities. We're growing quickly and now have need for a new Operations Manager role.
The role
You'll own everything inside the gates. The yard is a production centre - units come back, get inspected, repaired, painted, tested and put on the ready line, then go out right first time. You'll run it through three foremen (Outgoing, Incoming and Returns, Ready Line) and be accountable for the numbers: ready-line turnaround, repair targets, dispatch quality and utilisation. You’ll plan production so everything goes out on time, how the customer wants it.

You'll also own:
- All health and safety on site — you're the accountable person, not the paperwork person
- Premises and facilities — building, gates, security, grounds, site contractors
- The permit-to-work system and yard competence and training
- Physical stores and materials control
- Capital projects landing in the yard, starting with the spray booth install and concreting
- Line management of the yard team through the foremen - 1:1s, standards, performance. A high performance team to the Kensite values and standards.
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience running a yard, workshop or production floor — and turning one round, with numbers to show for it
- Carried health and safety accountability on a live site: RIDDOR, permits, contractor control
- Comfortable making performance calls and making them quickly
- Portable accommodation, modular, plant hire or manufacturing background preferred
- Direct, organised, and finishes what you start. You must be accountable and own outcomes, not just highlight issues. The ability to drive and maintain change and improvement is an absolute necessity.

What you get
- £40,000-55,000 depending on experience and skill set
- A yard that's being invested in and an MD who'll back decisions
- Six-month probation, then a permanent seat on the leadership team
