The Vacancy

Pharos Generator Services, an RSK Group company, is recruiting for an Operations Manager to join the team based in Bristol, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive wider operational improvements: Beyond regional management, you will identify and implement best practices, process refinements, and efficiency gains that can be scaled across the entire business.
  • Manage a team of Regional Service Managers, Engineers, Apprentices, and Administrative staff, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and equipped to meet objectives.
  • Take responsibility for regional business performance, including service/remedial quotations, engineer coordination, and spares management.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients, handling escalated issues to ensure timely and effective resolution.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the standby generator or related industry.
  • Previous commercial experience in contracts negotiation.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of service delivery processes and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Full UK Driving License is essential.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary - £60,000 - £70,000

About Us

Pharos Generator Services (PGS) is a UK-based company with more than 60 years’ experience in the power generation industry. We specialise in supplying, installing, commissioning, repairing and servicing diesel backup and emergency-power systems. Our diverse client base includes the Ministry of Defence, telecommunications giant British Telecommunications, the NHS, police and fire services and facilities management companies. Our state-of-the-art engineering services and support have been mobilised to the aerospace, automotive, telecommunications, electrical infrastructure and railway sectors.

PGS has been actively researching and exploring new clean fuel technologies to complement the switch to renewable sources of energy. Many organisations are relying on diesel generators for backup power. Our ambition is to explore how renewables and battery storage could be an alternative in certain situations. This transition will position PGS as an established provider of backup power supplies, thereby enabling our expansion in the UK and abroad.
