Operations Manager
The Jaq. Group is a fast-moving company which has experienced considerable growth over the last year. The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the organisation to ensure efficiency, productivity, and quality. This role involves managing processes, leading teams, optimising resources, and implementing strategies that support business growth and operational excellence. The position requires a strategic leader who can balance high-level planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment along with organisational and problem-solving skills to ensure a seamless operation.
Key Tasks
- Leading operations, ensuring seamless coordination between different departments within the company.
- Developing and executing operational strategies aligned with overall business objectives and growth targets.
- Overseeing supply chain performance, including inventory management, demand planning, and last-mile delivery optimisation.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives using lean methodologies and data-driven insights.
- Managing and optimising large operational budgets, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising service levels.
- Establishing and monitoring KPIs (e.g., delivery times, stock accuracy, fulfilment rates, shrinkage) and implementing corrective actions where needed.
- Leading, developing, and inspiring operational teams, including Managers and Operatives.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with other departments to improve operational alignment.
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations, legal requirements, and company policies across the warehouse.
- Overseeing risk management, business continuity planning, and operational resilience strategies.
- Evaluating and implementing new technologies (e.g., WMS, automation, forecasting tools) to enhance operational performance.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
- Monitoring performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
- Managing budgets, resources, and operational costs effectively.
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting more junior team members.
- Collaborating with senior management to align operations with business goals.
- Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
- Identifying and resolving operational issues in a timely manner.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and efficiency projects.
- Prioritising tasks and assigning to the team, ensuring an adequate distribution of workload.
- Monitoring compliance ensuring that products and processes comply with relevant industry standards, postal regulations, and company procedures.
- Conducting regular spot checks on selected orders to proactively identify any errors or discrepancies before they are dispatched to customers to ensure company profits are maximised.
- Take part in the training of new staff members within your team.
- Liaise with and effectively communicate with various departments including the Customer Service team.
- Promoting health and safety regulations within the workplace and ensure the team wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Be fully flexible to assist in other departments according to the needs of the business along with additional hours outside of core during peak periods.
- Undertake any other duties as required, that are within the competence of the post.
