About the Role
SW Education & Care is looking for a dedicated individual to join us as our RI & Operations Manager to support our residential children’s homes in North Devon.
At SW Education & Care, we believe that every young person deserves a place where they feel safe, valued and supported as they navigate the journey of childhood. Our homes and teams provide a setting to support children and young people who have experienced trauma and difficult circumstances to discover their strengths and passions. We’re committed to creating a culture of respect and inclusion for both our young people and teams.
The Role

You will be an inspirational and mature leader with the ability to positively manage change, improving provision thus improving outcomes for children in care. This is a central role to the organisation and provides a career pathway where you will:

- Recruit and manage home managers, oversee the homes’ financial accuracy and ensure the quality of services meets expected standards.
- Take responsibility for the overall effectiveness of provision, including safeguarding and education, and ensure KPIs are reported appropriately to the Managing Director.
- Provide energetic and stable leadership in line with the organisation’s ethos of integrity and transparency.
- Enable staff and the children and young people we support to develop, grow and flourish in all aspects of their lives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
