Salary: £45,326 - £50,436 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: St Marys Church Archaeology Centre, St Marys Street, Bedford, MK42 0AS
Contract Type: Fixed - Permanent

About the Role
Albion Archaeology is seeking an archaeologist with high-level skills in the commercial and academic management of historic environment projects. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, with excellent communication, negotiation, team working, and people skills, and have an interest in working for an ambitious organization in a challenging environment.
Requirements
- Relevant degree or equivalent
- Substantial experience in relevant archaeological work
- Member accreditation with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists
- Background within the historic environment sector
- In-depth understanding of the changing environment in which today’s commercial archaeological practices operate
Responsibilities
- Proactively seek new business opportunities and maintain existing client and professional relationships
- Price work and oversee contracts
- Manage the operational programme and resourcing
- Represent and further Albion Archaeology's business goals via liaison and negotiation with a wide range of project and archaeological stakeholders
- Assist with the leadership, promotion, and development of Albion and the management of the business to meet financial/commercial targets
- Line manage the Archaeological Managers and some archaeological support posts
- Work calmly in a highly pressurized environment and manage multiple demands
- Deliver quality outcomes, understand client needs, and ensure projects are delivered to programme and budget
- Represent Albion at professional and public events and to the media

Requirements
- Full driving license, valid for the UK, or ability to travel to sites and meetings across the UK
- Good knowledge of planning legislation as it relates to heritage, construction contracts, QHSE, and current professional practice
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take difficult decisions in a timely fashion
