Big Chief Hire is seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to lead our New South Wales branch.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, and supporting the continued growth of the business.
About The Role
In this business-critical position, an exciting opportunity is offered for a nationwide remit and the opportunity to contribute to the national growth strategy of our Big Chief Hire business.
The NSW Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that Big Chief Hire excels in service delivery, customer relationships, and profitability at the BCH Centre. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of the site/workshop, ensuring high equipment availability, compliance, and operational efficiency.
This role is a high-impact position within Big Chief Hire brand.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute daily site/workshop operations, ensuring quality and turnaround times.
- Collaborate with the Contracts Administrator to maintain high equipment availability.
- Prioritize repairs based on safety and operational constraints.
- Ensure repairs and maintenance comply with BCH/OEM policies and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain labor levels to meet maintenance/workshop requirements.
- Promote a zero-incident workplace culture.
- Provide accurate technical advice and ensure compliance with WHS requirements.
- Manage equipment safety recalls within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain equipment asset register and site scheduled maintenance matrix.
- Raise repair orders, purchase orders, and process invoices.
- Maintain equipment records for internal and external audits.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure site cleanliness.
- Manage stock levels and perform quarterly stock take.
- Issue and adjust contracts for ad hoc charges, misuse, damage, and extensions.
- Arrange transport for equipment delivery and collection; follow up overdue returns.
- Run reports on equipment status, availability, and bookings.
- Ensure equipment cleanliness and brand representation.

About You
- Strong operational management experience in fleet or equipment hire industry.
- Knowledge of maintenance practices and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and stock control.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
