We’re hiring an operations Manager at our site in Daventry. The successful candidate will be an experienced people manager within a transport/logistics background. If this is you, we would love to show you this extremely exciting opportunity.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £50,000 per annum. We offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

  • Ensure all colleagues on site adhere to XPO policies and procedures
  • Support the General Contract Manager with adherence to all compliance and legal obligations with a huge emphasis on safety
  • As O licence holder responsible for the overall fleet compliance for the site
  • Support strategy of carbon neutral and seek alternative delivery solutions to realise more sustainable offering to the customer
  • Responsible for contract team in ensuring objectives set and team managed in line with expected standards and protocols and providing the right level of support, coaching and development for the team
  • Effectively managing your time to ensure a safe and efficient service
  • Manage the relationship between XPO and our customers, constantly communicating across various stakeholders
  • Working closely with the onsite customer and warehouse provider on a day-to-day basis, you’ll support with period reviews and customer presentation in the contract managers absence.
  • Operational responsibility for KPIs across the network (Including but not limited to delivery performance, collection performance, vehicle fill, returns, complaints, claims and outstanding jobs etc).
  • Overseeing the co-ordination of sub-contractors/agency and associated payments for work carried out
  • Support Contracts General Manager in compilation of monthly invoicing and ensure no revenue attrition as a result of bad practices in the system
  • Ensure attendance on all appropriate service conference calls and/or delegation to colleagues as deemed appropriatE

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

  • Ideally you will already be a Transport/Distribution/Operations Manager working in or having experience in a 3PL environment, looking to prove yourself in a complex and diverse operation.
  • A People manager and leader with a collaborative approach to achieving results
  • A national/international CPC holder
  • IOSH qualification desirable
  • Process driven and have a track record of providing solutions to problems
  • Hands on working
  • Resilience to work and deliver great results in a high pressure fast moving environment

Contract terms/Working patterns

  • Based on site at GXO Daventry however some travel will be required as part of the role of a occasionally
  • 45hr working week. The role will be autonomous so individual will be expected to manage working hours accordingly within these confines including ensuring cover around operational needs for holidays/sickness cover for other members
  • The salary on offer will be up to £40,000-£50,000 dependent on experience. We also offer 25 days’ holiday (including bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other benefits.
  • No entitlement to overtime unless pre-authorised for specific activity
