Role: Operations Manager
Location: Bristol / Abbey Wood – 60% onsite
Contract: 6 months
Job Description:
The client is looking for an experienced Operations Manager / Engineering Manager with a strong Defence background, ideally operating at a similar level to STS1 / Professional 2. The role sits within an in-service support environment, providing operational and technical support around complex weapons systems.
The successful candidate will support an existing Operations Manager and must quickly understand complex operational environments and become effective with minimal lead-in time. The role combines BAU operational management with technical support, with responsibility for ensuring equipment and weapons remain appropriately supported and managed in service.

Key Experience Required:
- Strong Operations Management experience within Defence.
- Experience managing complex engineering, weapons, submarine or military systems would be highly relevant.
- Candidates who have served onboard submarines as an Engineer/Engineering Manager or have a Class 1 Officer background could be particularly suitable.
- Strong understanding of in-service support and operational environments.
- Experience with stock control, logistics and equipment management.
- Contract and supplier management, including monitoring supplier performance.
- Experience managing milestones, schedules, KPIs and deliverables.
- Strong understanding of service surveillance, quality assurance and maintaining standards.
- Experience supporting trials, testing, equipment integration or operational deployments would be valuable.
