We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our Club Leadership Team.

The Role

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading the day to day operational performance of the club, ensuring the highest standards of safety, cleanliness and operational excellence. Working closely with the General Manager, you will lead and develop the Operations team, creating an exceptional environment for members while ensuring compliance, efficiency and outstanding brand standards across the club.

  • Lead, coach and develop the Operations team, creating a positive, high-performing culture focused on delivering exceptional member experiences.
  • Ensure the club consistently delivers the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and presentation in line with Virgin Active Brand Standards.
  • Take ownership of Health & Safety compliance, ensuring company policies, procedures and statutory requirements are met at all times.
  • Manage operational resources, staffing, suppliers and budgets to ensure efficient and cost-effective club operations.
  • Monitor operational performance, reporting on key metrics and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships across all departments to support collaboration and deliver an outstanding member journey.
  • Lead Duty Manager shifts when required, providing visible leadership and ensuring the smooth operation of the club.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous development through coaching, regular feedback and performance management.

Experience

  • Previous experience in an Operations Manager or similar leadership role within leisure, hospitality or another customer-focused environment.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, operational compliance and maintaining exceptional brand standards.
  • Experience managing operational budgets, suppliers, staffing and resources to deliver efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across departments.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional member experiences through operational excellence.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
