Summary
This role involves leading and managing the Housing Register Service for a local authority on a 2-3 month contract. The successful candidate will ensure that applications are processed efficiently and in compliance with housing legislation, statutory requirements, and local policies. The position requires overseeing multi-disciplinary teams, enhancing service performance, and promoting excellent customer service to maximize housing opportunities for residents. Additionally, the role is crucial for fostering continuous improvement, maintaining regulatory compliance, and building strong partnerships to enhance customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Housing Register service to ensure high-quality, customer-focused service delivery.
- Oversee the assessment, registration, and maintenance of Housing Register applications.
- Ensure applications are processed accurately, consistently, and within agreed timescales.
- Maintain compliance with housing allocations legislation, statutory guidance, and local authority policies.
- Monitor and improve service performance, quality standards, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and implement service improvements, efficiencies, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Manage complex cases, complaints, appeals, and escalated enquiries.
- Develop and implement operational procedures, policies, and best practice standards.

Requirements
- Significant experience managing Housing Register, Housing Allocations, Housing Needs, or related housing services.
- Experience leading large operational teams, including remote and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in performance management, service improvement, and quality assurance.
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Professional Housing Qualification (CIH Level 4 or above) is desirable.
- Management qualification or evidence of significant management experience is desirable.
- Continuous Professional Development relevant to housing services and leadership.

Additional Information
- Working hours: 35 hours per week.
- Location: 160 Whitechapel Road, London, Tower Hamlets, E1 1BJ, United Kingdom.
- Work pattern: Minimum of 3 days in the office.
- Payment schedule: Bi-weekly.
- Interview preference: On-site, with an option for MS Teams virtual if necessary.
