An exciting leadership opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join Calvary Mater Newcastle as the Operations Manager, General Medicine & Palliative Care Services.

Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing and Clinical Services, this senior leadership role is responsible for the operational management, strategic direction, and service delivery of General Medicine and Palliative Care Services. The successful candidate will provide strong clinical and operational leadership across multidisciplinary teams while ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care that aligns with Calvary's mission, values, and strategic priorities.

This position offers the opportunity to influence service development, lead workforce initiatives, drive quality improvement, and contribute to the delivery of exceptional healthcare services for our community.

Your main duties will include:

  • Provide operational leadership and oversight of General Medicine and Palliative Care Services
  • Lead and support Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Clinical Nurse Educators and multidisciplinary teams
  • Drive workforce planning, recruitment, staff development and succession planning initiatives

About you

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, Postgraduate qualifications in leadership, management or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive senior clinical and operational management experience within a complex healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to manage organisational change and drive service improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of quality and safety frameworks, including the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards
