Role: Operations Manager
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE
Location: Southampton (hybrid - 1 day from home)
The Role
The Operations Manager will lead operational excellence across AVASK’s global footprint, ensuring that international teams, service lines, and partner operations work in a consistent, scalable, and client-focused way. The role will support the delivery of AVASK’s tax compliance, global e-commerce, VAT, EPR, customs, accountancy, and related advisory services by improving the way interconnected services operate together across jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective operational leadership, communication, and management across AVASK’s Group offices, ensuring global teams are aligned to AVASK policies, procedures, service standards, and performance expectations.
- Develop a strong understanding of AVASK’s global tax compliance environment, including how VAT, EPR, customs, accountancy, advisory, and related services interact to support international e-commerce clients.
- Ensure operational processes support the end-to-end client journey across multiple jurisdictions, marketplaces, and service lines, with clear ownership, handovers, controls, and escalation routes.
- Contribute to the ongoing programme of improvements in software systems, automation, and workflow design to deliver business efficiencies, scalability, improved compliance outcomes, and enhanced customer experience.
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators, service levels, quality trends, and operational risks to identify areas for improvement and implement measurable corrective actions.
- Drive process optimisation initiatives by leveraging automation, AI tools, data analytics, and standardised operating procedures to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and increase productivity across global teams.
- Ensure seamless coordination between departments and service partners so that interdependent services are delivered efficiently, consistently, and without unnecessary duplication or delay.
- Work with Service Partners to ensure required service levels are achieved, client service standards are maintained, and operational dependencies are actively managed.
- Ensure non-conformance, risk, and opportunity feedback is captured and logged with the Quality Management Officer to support continuous improvement, root-cause analysis, and effective stakeholder-led resolution.
- Stay abreast of industry best practice, tax authority expectations, marketplace developments, and technology trends affecting global e-commerce compliance and operational delivery.
- Be aware of information security procedures and controls and assist in ensuring they are fully implemented with all personnel to the ISO 27001 standard.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback to team members, ensuring operational capability supports AVASK’s global growth ambitions.
- Encourage professional development and identify training opportunities to strengthen team knowledge of tax compliance, systems, process improvement, automation, and cross-service delivery.

The Person
- Educated to Degree Level - BSc/BA in Business Management, Operations Management, Technology Management, Information Systems, or a relevant field.
- Strong understanding of tax compliance operations, ideally within VAT, EPR, customs, accountancy, advisory, or related international compliance services.
- Experience supporting global e-commerce clients, online marketplace operations, or multi-jurisdictional service delivery environments.
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager, Business Manager, or similar role within a complex, multi-service, regulated, or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of the interdependency between operational processes, client onboarding, compliance delivery, finance, technology, service partners, and customer experience.
- Understanding of quality management systems, continuous improvement, and ISO 9001 principles.
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and collaborative skills, with the ability to influence teams across different locations and functions.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, including the confidence to engage internal and client stakeholders at all hierarchy levels.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, business processes, and compliance-driven operating models.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, databases, workflow tools, reporting systems, and business information systems.
- Experience implementing automation, AI-enabled tools, systems improvements, and process redesign to maximise efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and team performance.
- Ability to use data, KPIs, and operational insight to identify trends, resolve root causes, and drive measurable improvement.
