Contract: Permanent | Full-time
Reports to: CEO

Lead Humanitarian Change Across India

Khalsa Aid is looking for an experienced and passionate Operations Manager – India to lead our humanitarian and development programmes across the country.

This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to making a meaningful difference. Based in the UK, you will oversee multiple projects across India, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight and support to our teams, partners and communities.

From emergency disaster response to long-term development initiatives, you'll play a key role in ensuring our programmes are delivered safely, effectively and in line with Khalsa Aid's mission and values.

What You'll Do

As Operations Manager, you will:

  • Lead and oversee all operational activities across India.
  • Manage multiple humanitarian, development and emergency response projects.
  • Build strong relationships with government agencies, NGOs, community leaders and partners.
  • Lead, mentor and develop India-based staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards of governance and compliance.
  • Manage programme budgets and resources responsibly.
  • Support rapid deployment during humanitarian emergencies.
  • Work closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to drive strategic growth and operational excellence.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • At least 8 years' experience in a senior operations or programme management role.
  • Experience managing large, multi-site programmes and cross-cultural teams.
  • A strong background in humanitarian aid, international development, charity operations or a similar sector.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working extensively across India and engaging with local communities, government officials and partners.
  • Strong financial and project management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure.

Essential

  • Fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi (spoken and written).
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout India, including remote locations.
  • A genuine commitment to humanitarian values and improving the lives of vulnerable communities.

Desirable

  • Experience working within the charity, NGO or humanitarian sector.
  • Knowledge of NGO governance, safeguarding and compliance in India.
  • Project Management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP, MSP or equivalent).
  • Experience working with Sikh communities and gurdwaras.
