Operations Manager
Vercity are looking to recruit an experienced Operations Manager with a background in hard service, facilities management, to join our established and dedicated team for a project based in Exeter.
Reporting to the General Manager the role is responsible for the stewardship of the delivery of asset management to a portfolio of schools and a small, hi-tech health centre in the Exeter & Taunton areas. The opportunity is due to a forthcoming retirement and is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days on site - so your location is relevant.
What You'll Do
- Lead operational oversight of maintenance, defects, and lifecycle works across education and healthcare facilities.
- Monitor and challenge FM contractor performance, driving compliance and service improvement.
- Carry out audits, inspections, and quality checks to ensure maintenance activities are completed to the required standard.
- Analyse performance data, identify risks and trends, and oversee corrective action plans.
- Review work orders, compliance records, and contractor reports to ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Prepare performance reports and engage with schools, authorities, contractors, and board-level stakeholders.

What You'll Bring
- Experience in facilities management, asset management, or infrastructure operations within a contract-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of maintenance, defects, lifecycle works, and contractor performance management.
- Experience using CAFM or similar systems, with excellent MS365 and Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
- Ability to interpret contracts, monitor compliance, and maintain accurate technical and operational records.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging from site level through to board level.
- Relevant FM, asset, infrastructure, health & safety, or technical qualifications are advantageous
