Salary: £45,000 Annually, Plus Veolia Benefits
Location: Wyre
Hours: 40 Hours weekly

What you’ll be doing

  • To ensure the cost-effective management of the kerbside collections.
  • To manage a 75 person workforce, including Service Delivery Managers as direct reports and all other Drivers & Operatives in line with the contract specifications.
  • The Role Holder is responsible for fleet compliance, which includes ensuring that vehicle checks are completed, any problems are reported and acted on and that scheduled servicing and maintenance is carried out, as the depot CPC Holder.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all resources and routes are operated in the most cost-efficient way, and that these operate to the highest level of health and safety and in line with Company policies, procedures, compliance and legislation requirements and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Compiling weekly & monthly reports for the Senior Contract/Contract Manager, including overtime, attendance, vehicle damage, defaults, and missed collections performance.
  • Responsible for ensuring full service delivery through ensuring that issues e.g. workforce performance is managed pro-actively and prior to any complaints that may be received by the client or residents. Where appropriate utilising Veolia's Policies and procedures to correct this.
  • Responsible for jointly overseeing/reviewing contract performance and making/invoking changes where necessary.
  • Responsible for a workforce, including Service Delivery Managers, an administrator and Drivers & Loaders. The role Holder will ensure that for all the services that they are responsible for, that performance is monitored and action is taken for any under performance, in line with Veolia Policy & Procedure;
  • Probationary reviews are completed and plans put in place to establish the success of the employees' employment.
  • Manage absence - including monitoring, absence management reviews and issuing cautions and carry out disciplinary action up to, and including, dismissal.
  • Responsible for supporting the accuracy of wage information with the administrator as/when required.
  • Working with the depot’s Service Delivery Managers and the Senior Contract/Contract Manager to help identify the training needs of all individuals under their management.
  • The ability to manage sickness absence and disciplinary proceedings.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective service delivery and managing the customer’s expectations in a pro-active manner. Role Holder is also responsible for ongoing customer relations and will be a key/regular contact with the customer regarding the aforementioned services.
  • Responsible for ensuring that contractual specifications are achieved, KPI performance is satisfactory and taking corrective action where it may be required.

Essential:

  • Experience of people management, ideally with larger teams.
  • Capability to lead, motivate, and develop teams while managing performance and fostering collaboration.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and IT skills for interfacing with various Stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage operational budgets, control costs, and optimise resource allocation.

Desirable:

  • IOSH/Nebosh
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
  • Experience within the waste sector.
