Night Operations Manager
Manchester Arndale
Full Time | Permanent
Lead Overnight Operations at One of the UK's Premier Retail Destinations
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Night Operations Manager to take responsibility for the safe, secure and effective operation of Manchester Arndale outside normal business hours.
This is a unique opportunity to lead overnight operations across one of the UK's largest city-centre retail destinations. As the designated manager in charge overnight, you will oversee Security, Cleaning, Engineering and contractor activities, ensuring the centre remains safe, compliant and operationally ready for the following day.
You'll be the key decision-maker overnight, managing incidents, coordinating multiple teams, maintaining operational standards and acting as the primary escalation point for issues affecting the centre.
This role is ideal for an operational leader with strong people management skills, excellent judgement and the confidence to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the designated manager in charge of Manchester Arndale overnight.
- Lead and coordinate Security, Cleaning, Engineering and contractor activities.
- Ensure the centre remains safe, secure, compliant and operationally ready for the following day.
- Manage and oversee critical systems including fire alarms, CCTV, access control and life safety systems.
- Respond to and coordinate incidents, emergencies and business continuity events.
- Act as the primary out-of-hours escalation point for operational issues and incidents.
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance.
- Monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with approved permits, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Support employee welfare, performance management and people-related processes.
- Produce detailed reports, investigations and operational handovers.

Essential Requirements
- SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Significant operational management experience within security, facilities management, retail, hospitality, transport or a similar environment.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and service providers.
- Experience managing incidents, emergencies and business continuity events.
- Experience managing employee performance, conduct and welfare matters.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
- Experience overseeing contractors and permit-to-work systems.
- Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
Desirable Requirements
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification.
- Formal management or leadership qualification.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- Experience working within a large shopping centre, public venue, transport hub or complex estate.
- Knowledge of shopping centre operations and retail environments.
- Experience coordinating multiple departments, activities and competing priorities simultaneously.
