Operations Manager Role
This is a pivotal role within our small team: managing the Trust’s operations, supporting the fulfilment of initial grant outcomes and underpinning future-focused activity. Many of the processes have already been established, but as an ambitious start-up these are under regular review and development. There is an opportunity to shape efficiencies and develop the systems and channels through which the Trust engages with primary beneficiaries, whilst ensuring statutory duties are met as a matter of ease.
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage the organisation’s operations, and operations contractors, including but not limited to IT infrastructure, GDPR Compliance, Sharepoint, utilities & services, health and safety consultants, fire safety, PAT testing, insurance, and office supplies.
- Maintain access to communications channels and finance systems. Act as the organisation’s Data Controller.
- Support the Company Secretary (Executive Director) to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements; keep up-to-date with relevant legal and policy changes relating to charity and company law, the charity governance code and support with filings and annual compliance; hold the administrative relationship with the Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Manage a biannual review of policies by Trustees, reviewing & updating as required.
- Act as lead contact for MCLT’s accountants, ensuring relevant and timely financial management information for the staff team, Trustees and funders.
- Monitor cash flow, administer invoices, check payroll and lead operational financial planning.
- Ensure an excellent service to building and space occupiers, including ad-hoc bookings, ensuring legal obligations are met both by the Trust & occupiers and compliance with all the relevant risk assessments, insurances, clauses etc. Maintain site logs and incident reporting record, and appropriate keyholder site cover.
- Manage freelance staff as required, including but not limited to communications and governance support.
- Support the team with: occasional administrative duties and maintenance of stakeholder relationships; launching commissions, tenders, recruitment and other call outs; managing building maintenance contractors.
- Maintain up-to-date organisational data systems for space-holder EOIs, fundraising relationships, and data on the creative sector, property and social impact.
- Ensure sustainable practices of management and operation.

Partnerships & Business Development Manager Role
This is a crucial role within our small team: delivering timely & successful outcomes to current lease negotiations and monitoring overall organisational risk; supporting the ongoing development and delivery of the trust’s financial strategy; and developing opportunities to protect, move and grow the creative sector by maintaining sector relationships and modelling our future portfolio of sites and projects. There is an opportunity to shape the growth of the Trust and ensure it delivers in a targeted and impactful way.
Specific Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of, and deliver the implementation of organisational plans and strategies.
- Take ownership of the organisational risk register.
- Support the Executive Director in multi-year budget setting and financial planning, and take responsibility for in-year budget management and monitoring.
- Develop business cases and modelling for individual sites and contribute to overall business modelling and delivery of financial sustainability for the Trust.
- Contribute to and jointly deliver the fundraising strategy.
- Liaise with occupiers on heads of terms, agreements to lease, and leases; liaise with legal & manage the relationship with lawyers.
- Liaise with Creative Sector organisations, assess needs in order to protect, move, and grow the creative sector through workspace and programmes.
- Lead and manage staff, freelancers and contractors as required.
- Manage contracts and appointed contractors to ensure high standard of work and value for money.
- In liaison with colleagues, develop and implement a maintenance schedule for properties.
- In liaison with colleagues, assess the sites pipeline, supporting the scoping and acquisition process as required; oversee the planning and delivery of meanwhile activations within developing sites.
- Ensure sustainable practices in management and operation.
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems, enabling reporting internally and to funders.
- Prepare evaluation and progress reports, and briefing notes for the staff team, Trustees and funders.
- Contribute to organisational knowledge of creative sector, property and social impact opportunities and potential partnerships.
