Operations Manager - Sherburn in Elmet

Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join our team in Sherburn in Elmet, supporting our customer, Sainsbury’s. Reporting into the General Manager, you will predominantly manage all aspects of the warehouse function ensuring delivery of operational excellence and exceeding customer expectations, whilst ensuring quality, compliance and KPIs are met. Ensuring that all processes and procedures are undertaken in a safe and healthy manner and that we invest in the development of our people, processes, facilities and deployment of best practices.

This is a full time, permanent position, predominately working Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 16:00 however, some flexibility will be required, this is logistics after all!

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Effectively coordinate the operation, ensuring that all resources are managed and used in the most effective manner to deliver and improve upon expected customer service levels and KPIs within budgeted costs
  • Manage a team of Shift Managers, understanding the challenges and successes they have on each shift and giving them all they need to manage their teams
  • Focus on optimisation, cost-saving and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for process enhancement and increased efficiency
  • Build a strong working relationship with our customer and the wider on-site operational teams such as QHSE, HR and finance

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Previous experience as an Operations Manager or similar level role in a large, fast-paced warehousing environment, with exposure to food logistics is essential
  • The ability to lead, develop and mentor a large, diverse operational team, recognising talent and inspiring them to success
  • Be enthusiastic, driven and have a “can-do” attitude, as well as having the ability to think outside of the box and demonstrate true entrepreneurial spirit
  • Generally strong IT skills
  • IOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification
  • ILM Level 5 or equivalent Management qualification
