Job Title: Operations Manager - Distribution
Reports To: Regional Director
Role Requirements
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimising all operational activities within the business. This includes inventory management (goods in/despatch), sawing, engineering, heat treatment, testing, quality control, health & safety, and continuous improvement to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of products and services to customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for all operational areas of the Sheffield Distribution Plant ensuring high standards quality, safety, and service are maintained.
- Develop the infrastructure and future vision of the group.
- Driving efficiencies and identifying areas for improvement.
- Responsible for the control of costs and ensure those costs are maintained.
- Responsible for forecasting production capacity and production times.
- Lead & motivate a multi skilled workforce with the ability to coach & mentor department managers.
- Develop, facilitate, and maintain processes.
- Consistently review, resolve, and modify processes ensuring quality results.
- Effectively contribute to strategic planning and implementation plans.

Accountabilities and Performance Measures
- Accountable for delivering operational performance targets relating to productivity, quality, cost control, inventory management, and customer service.
- Accountable for ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safe working practices across the operation.
- Accountable for driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, improve quality, and increase profitability.
- Accountable for monitoring and reporting operational KPIs, identifying performance gaps, and implementing corrective actions to achieve business objectives.

Job Requirements/Qualifications
- Proven experience in an Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Manager, Distribution Manager, or similar senior operational leadership role.
- Strong working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience managing operational KPIs and delivering improvements in productivity, quality, safety, cost control, and customer service performance.
- Proficient in the use of ERP/MRP systems, inventory management systems.
